Deming King Harriman is a mixed media artist, raised in Miami Beach and currently living in Brooklyn, NY. 

 

Her interdisciplinary work explores the archetypes and symbolism formed from myths, legends, and folklore. Weaving ancient theology with contemporary narratives, and bringing whimsy through a multitude of mediums. 

 

Graduating from Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in Illustration and a concentration in Book Arts. Deming has exhibited internationally, including solo shows at Deep Space Gallery (NJ),  BBAM! Gallery (Montreal, CAN), and group shows at Young At Art Museum (FL), The Baker Museum (FL), and Sagamore Hotel (FL), amongst others.

 

She has taught workshops at Wolfsonian Museum (FL), The Young At Art Museum (FL), and the Museum of Contemporary Art (FL). Deming has been awarded studio residencies with Oolite Arts in South Florida, and Chashama in New York where her current studio practice is. She has over forty-eight artworks installed in four of the largest cruise ships in the world with Royal Caribbean. Deming has been featured in publications including The New York TimesThe Washington Post, and Artnet. Her work is part of several private and public art collections including the Miami Dade Public Library and The Leder Art Collection. Her Zodiac Series was published in TASCHEN’s Library of Esoterica: Astrology, as well as commissioned as a public installation at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in 2020 and is currently still on view.
